As I’ve made an emphasis about the anime community throughout these Twelve Days posts, I figure it’s about time for one of the greatest, most memorable and wholly entertaining events of the year: The Second Anime Blog Tournament or Aniblog Tourney. With the first one occurring in 2010, before I discovered and read anime blogs, this was the first such event where a majority of the aniblogger community gathered together to share and explore bits and pieces of the community that may have gone unnoticed previously. Rather, it was the social aspects of the Aniblog Tourney which were the most influential and enduring.
Despite being months overdue and embarrassingly late, the review for the Winter 2012 anime season is at long last completed. Though these anime have long since concluded and become a fragment of our cherished memories, there should be closure for these shows and that’s what this comprehensive review hopes to accomplish. Come, let’s take a moment to reexamine, reanalyze, and reflect on the anime that composed the first anime season of 2012.
The midway point in a season is about the fairest time to evaluate an anime since each show has had ample time to introduce its characters, establish its story, differentiate itself from the rest, and show enough to allow us to form proper judgment. Each show has had time to work out its kinks and oddities, too, as well as reveal its true self after spectacular or sluggish beginnings. Now that the Winter Anime season is well past its midway point, it’s time to take a moment and see how the anime we love and watch this season are performing and how they compare to each other.
Alright, time to take a moment and prepare for the upcoming Winter anime season. After a quick glance at what’s planned for the first anime season of 2012, it appears to be another season heavy on sequels but there are plenty of shows with potential. And of the new anime airing this season, there is no clear-cut favorite right now meaning this should be an interesting season to see how everything plays out.
