Much like last year’s Day 8, when I wrote about sticking with a bad anime to find it somewhat entertaining and certainly worthwhile, this post will be able an anime I never gave a fair opportunity to when it aired in the past only try it now and find it enjoyable and definitely worth watching. It serves as an excellent reminder of the potential gems and stars among the forgotten or ignored anime of seasons or years bygone. Resting in obscurity or uncertainty, these anime were rejected or dropped due to flawed research, lacking prospects, evolving tastes, time constraints, or for whatever reason we decide not to watch an anime. However, when the opportunity appears, taking another chance with these anime may completely reverse our opinion on it simply based on the fact that we actually are watching the anime rather than just speculating about it. For me, that anime is Yuru Yuri, an anime I gave a second (or first?) chance to in 2012 and have loved it ever since.
Today marks the return of the 12 Days of Anime, the series of posts recounting and detailing the twelve greatest moments, influences or events of the year in regards to my anime/manga life. Over the next twelve days, ending on Christmas Day, I will have a special post documenting some exceptional and unforgettable thing that happened to me this year in hopes of sharing this cherished memory with you and adding a bit of personal touch that otherwise remains absent from this blog. Be sure to check out the other blogs participating in this tradition and enjoy the fun and celebrations.
In late 2011, my family was planning a vacation to Thailand, the first trip to Asia in my life. During the planning stages, I took the initiative to see if we or I could spend some time in Japan either heading in or going home. Since the Thailand portion of my trip was being paid for, I was informed that this excursion would need to be financed by myself but that I could leave a day early to fit it in. With these circumstances in place, the only chance at visiting Japan was a 22-hour period between arriving from Bangkok and departing to Seattle. It didn’t even take me a second to decide nor did I even look at the estimated bill; I leapt at the opportunity and this… this is my adventure:
This week: a surprisingly emotional iDOLM@STER episode, the lone person who cares about the truth in UN-Go, and a spotlight on Taichi in Chihayafuru. Oh, and the order of anime in this post has flipped, so now it’s reverse. Yippee!!
What’s with the term ‘Fabulous Max’ in Penguindrum? Who does the most damage in BakaTest? What has me unhappy with Tiger & Bunny? And what shows are starting to drag on and tire me out? Keep on reading to find out all this and more regarding this week of Summer anime.
No.6 reminds me of something else every time I watch it. Why was this week the best of Idolmaster and the worst of Ikoku Meiro no Croisé? And am I changing my opinon on a character from Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu II after one episode? All these and other short thoughts on fifteen current anime are all below.
Problems with the tension in Kamisama Dolls? Is Blood-C finally becoming a good or interesting anime? And what would No.6 be like without certain elements of its story? This and other short thoughts on fifteen current anime are all below (although this is several days late, so some of these shows are from last week. Sorry!).
