Within the Balbadd story arc, a specific hierarchy has been successfully established. No, no, this isn’t about the monarchy, class structure, or social order in Magi but instead about how the fighters and fighting is ordered into certain tiers based on the various acquired powers and intrinsic abilities present. With Alibaba now controlling and utilizing the flames of Amon, we’re able to better understand how powerful the magoi and djinn are and comprehend the difference in fighting capacity between these characters.
The year of 2012 saw the debut and broadcasting of well over a hundred television anime and even more in the forms of movies and OVAs. Over the past dozen months, I’ve spent countless hours watching these anime and documenting my thoughts, opinions and evaluations on each and every show. Now with the year coming to a close, it’s time to summarize this year of anime with two simple lists: one on the top 12 characters of the year and the other on the top 12 favorite anime of the year.
The dawn of 2013 means the beginning of another new anime season, the Winter 2013 anime season to be precise. As I’ve made an emphasis about the anime community throughout these Twelve Days posts, I figure it’s about time for one of the greatest, most memorable and wholly entertaining events of the year: The Second Anime Blog Tournament or Aniblog Tourney. With the first one occurring in 2010, before I discovered and read anime blogs, this was the first such event where a majority of the aniblogger community gathered together to share and explore bits and pieces of the community that may have gone unnoticed previously. Seizing the opportunity, this blog was accepted into the tournament. However, the act of putting my blog in the Aniblog Tourney is not the reason for it making the Twelve Days list. Rather, it was the social aspects of the Aniblog Tourney which were the most influential and enduring.
With the Autumn season of anime over halfway complete, each show has had ample opportunity to introduce its concepts and themes, progresses its stories and characters, fix any issues or peculiarities, and show enough material to provide adequate and fair evaluations that are more than just momentary impressions. This is about the first time when our assessments, grades, and rankings have significance to them, that they hold merit in their worth, that they’re actually grading the anime as a whole and not simply an episode or two or undeveloped characters. Here, in this Mid-Season Review, it’s time to evaluate the anime of Autumn 2012.
So, yeah, the Summer anime season ended quite a while back, but it’s never too late (or is it?) to provide my final thoughts, opinions, assessments, and evaluations on the various anime that aired over our warmer, sunnier months. We’ve had plenty of time to watch and enjoy these shows and now it’s time to assign their final scores before they become little more than fond or funny memories or entries in our detailed anime histories. So, just how well did every show do according to my personal preferences? It’s time to explore and score the 2012 Summer anime season one last time!
