Spring 2013 – Week 2 Anime Review

This week: why I’m not buying the ‘death’ scene in Kakumeiki Valvrave and what leads me to believe so, some recommendations for Yamane on how to properly use a syringe in Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge, questioning the geographies, organizations and structures of cities in Shingeki no Kyojin, Suisei no Gargantia, and To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S, and some additional thoughts on the setting in anime.

Winter 2013 – Week 5 Anime Review

This week: why I don’t consider Senran Kagura an ecchi anime anymore, wondering about the comedy in Zetsuen no Tempest, the diversity of karuta opponents in Chihayafuru 2 and remembering the forgotten Reiko in Shin Sekai Yori.

Robotics;Notes – 15

It seems as though the spirited and cheerful Airi, the shining, sunny personality we knew and loved, is no longer with us in Robotics;Notes.  And though it seems like a cruel and heartless event to occur in the series, essentially the death of a character with her artificial intelligence being lost to digital nothingness, it does serve an ultimate purpose in the series from this point going forward.  That is to say, her character has fulfilled her duties and her intended purpose and now, is no longer necessary.

Autumn 2012 – Week 5 Anime Review

This week: some deserved recognition for the underapperciated Kamisama Kiss and why I continue to love it, the committee approach to detectives in Psycho-Pass, the captivating sceneries and environments of Sword Art Online, and the awkward ecchi fanservice in K.

Robotics;Notes – 3

Though the robots were miniature, the foreshadowing from this fighting tournament is huge considering the implications we can apply to the future of Robotics;Notes.  Though Tanegashimachine-3S could fit nicely within the pupil of GunPro1, the giant robot at the heart of this anime, witnessing its controls, kinetics, and performance for the first time gives us an excellent idea of what to expect from GunPro1 when it is complete and ready for action.  That is to say, though there may be elements of fantasy and fiction sprinkled throughout, we can expect the robots to behave as realistically or as physically-appropriate as possible.

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita – 5

Humanity has declined.  Which means, at some time prior, humanity was at its zenith, the pinnacle of success and accomplishment and advancement.  But what was this time like for mankind?  Was the climax of humanity something parallel to our current societies or something more?  Well, given the expedition into the ruins of a former mankind, we’re able to understand a little more about the peak of mankind and the setting of Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita.

Spring 2012 – Week 10 Anime Review

This week: significant and immediate improvements in Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna, contradictions in Houtarou’s lifestyle in Hyouka, understanding the mechanics of alien communication in Tsuritama, and philosophical questions arisen from the finale of Upotte!!.
