Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam – 15

Continuing with my nonsensical nomenclature for this anime, we’ve seen the series go from Last Exile to ‘Late Exile’ to ‘Last Week’s Exile’ to ‘Lost Exile’ to ‘Blast Exile’ to this episode which receives the moniker ‘Fast Exile’ due to the completely random, high-speed aerial race between Fam and Fritz.  Not a bad set of developments in this episode, with Millia and Fam battling with conflicting emotions, Ades generals having second thoughts after using Exile on Glacies, and Vasant and Sara already taking action to thwart the tyrannical Luscinia.  And with the developments in this episode, I can say good-bye to a theory of mine that I’ve had for most of the series.

Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam – 14

With the much anticipated battle between Glacies and Ades finally here, this episode of Blast Exile turned to a militaristic one full of impressive warships, fiery explosions, and several intriguing revelations.  But the battle that lasted for most of the episode wasn’t as particularly enjoyable as some of the previous episodes despite involving the two greatest nations waging a full-scale war with each other.  What was wrong with the airship battle in this episode of Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam?

Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam – 13

Continuing along with my senseless nomenclature for this anime, this week’s episode is hereby dubbed ‘Lost Exile’ which appropriately describes how Millia, Fam, and Giselle were marooned in the barren tundra of Glacies.  The whole episode revolves around our trio of heroes interacting with Rocket Fighter pilot and native to Glacies, Dian, and repairing their wrecked vanship before departing to the home base, the Silvus.  But before going from point A to point B, the episode exposed a vast schism in cultures, customs, and philosophies between Glacies and the rest of nations neighboring the Grand Lake.  Thought the episode did minimal to advance the plot, its exposition on world building was exceptional and it enriched the setting in a way I admire: thought character action rather than narration or guesstimation.

Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam – 12

Okay, so I was only joking in my previous post when I said I should call these ‘Late Exile’ but this is ridiculous.  Hell, late isn’t even appropriate anymore, I should just dub these ‘Last Week’s Exile’ but even that’s starting to feel like it’s not enough.  Geez, this is getting bad.  Real bad.  So let’s take a quick flashback to last week’s episode which was a flashback to the fated meeting of the entire cast of Last Exile ten years prior to the present timeline of Last Exile (which was last week but now this week).

Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam – 11

I really should start calling these ‘Late Exile’ rather than Last Exile since they always come out well after the episode aired.  Well, it’s more of the same from me this week but a number of curious surprises and praiseworthy developments coming from Last Exile which has the anime treading upward.  But instead of examining the ascending trend and the reasons behind this surge, there’s a theme that has been persistently reiterated in episodes like this that I just can’t ignore anymore and needs some much deserved notice.

Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam – 9

Say, weren’t there supposed to be villains in this anime?  You know the guy that summoned Exile and obliterated an entire nation for really no reason?  Whatever happened to him and his Guild cronies?
