Softenni – 5
Seeing as people are starting to realize that you’re more likely to prevent any irreversible brain damage by not watching Softenni, there has been a sudden decrease in the amount of subs available for those who disregard whatever medical warning is associated with their favorite ecchi/sports animes. Thankfully (for me), none of the topics I write about are associated with the story (haha what story?) or characters or anything that requires subtitles but instead focus on whatever tangents can pad out my weekly posts to around the 700 words so that they are just long enough to discuss a theme and short enough to impede too many ‘tl;dr’ views from people who visit this blog with the sole intention of looking at pictures of Asuna or Kotone (the only 2 characters that matter).
So anyway, onto the episode! (and I’m not all that negative in this post)
Softenni – 4
It’s just another dismal, overcast day for Nameless XEBEC Animator A. Not only is he getting in arguments with his girlfriend, getting yelled at by his supervisor at work for substandard animation, and running into financial trouble due to his lowly wages, this modest employee is simply losing his motivation for drawing anime. He arrives at the studio before the sun has peaked above the horizon, receives his assignment for the day, and sits at his desk in the same monotonous fashion that he’s been repeating these past few months.

Sofuteni – 2
If someone asked you what genre of anime Sofuteni would be, what would you say? The best answer would be that Sofuteni is some sort of tennis/slice-of-life/comedy/ecchi anime. But what is the dominant genre? In other words, if you could only choose one genre to categorize Sofuteni, which one should you choose?
Sofuteni – 1
There’s a reason I decided to blog Sofuteni this season over a number of much better, more interesting, and popular shows this season. No, I haven’t gone insane yet (but I expect those results to come back any day now). For one, I think Sofuteni presents a distinct challenge in its blandness and mediocrity. What’s the point of blogging if I only chose the best shows or my favorite shows every season and just gush all over them for a 12-week period? I feel I can learn a lot more about why I’m so passionate about anime by selecting a diverse range of shows and exploring where they take me, instead of picking my favorites and only writing upbeat posts about each show. Secondly, I figure no one will be blogging this anime since there isn’t gonna be a whole lot to write about each episode. That is another test the show brings up: I’ll be able to see how my writing and creativity have improved since I started blogging back in January. It will be a challenge trying to come up with material weekly, but I think it’ll be a fun experiment to grapple with a average anime such as this.
So anyway, onto Sofuteni!
