Summer 2011 – Season Preview

The Summer anime season will begin in a few short weeks, meaning we’ll be given the choice of selecting a horde of new shows to follow, enjoy, and detest.   Here, I’ll go through my opinions of the Summer season along with providing a video to each of the ones I’m interested in.  Hopefully, you, the reader, will get something out of this and help find out which shows might be right for you this season with this preview.

Winter 2011 – Season Review

Despite the most popular show of the winter season still incomplete, I’ll go ahead and write my season review for Winter 2011.  It’s not like there’ll be any changes to the scores or how they rank when Puella Magi Madoka Magica finishes, so there’s no real point in waiting an undetermined amount of time to pretty much post the same thing, especially with the other nine shows already complete.

Freezing – 12 (Finale)

I think I see what they were trying to do with these twelve episodes of Freezing.  The staff had planned a second season from the very beginning (although there has been no announcement yet).

These first twelve episodes served mainly as an introduction to all the characters, the mechanics, and the essentials that Freezing has to offer while providing one plot-relevant battle to help bring loose ends together.  Should there be a second season in the near future, then this season will have been the foundation for the next season, allowing it to immediately launch into whatever it wants to focus on, be it relationships or Novas or girls losing their arms in battles or whatever else happens at that crazy, crazy academy.

Freezing – 10

Freezing is a tease.  And not just all those panties and occasionally bloody brawls and whatnot but rather the Nova.  Okay, really, all three but let’s just focus on the Nova here.  We’re finally facing a major encounter against those bizarre creatures, but instead they send out regurgitated Pandoras to do their bidding, delaying their fight one more episode.  Dang!  I was really hoping to see a lengthy and meticulous battle between the cast of Freezing and the invading Nova.

Freezing – 9

There are too many flashbacks in Freezing and I feel that they’re beginning to subtract from the series rather than support it.
