Oh, right, I do these kinda posts, too. This week: Kaiki bringing out the best in others in Monogatari Series Second Season, watching the OVA that connects episodes 8 and 9 in Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta, the setting feeling undervalued in Nagi no Asukara, and the true victims of torture in Samurai Flamenco “B”.
So, yeah, the Summer anime season ended quite a while back, but it’s never too late (or is it?) to provide my final thoughts, opinions, assessments, and evaluations on the various anime that aired over our warmer, sunnier months. We’ve had plenty of time to watch and enjoy these shows and now it’s time to assign their final scores before they become little more than fond or funny memories or entries in our detailed anime histories. So, just how well did every show do according to my personal preferences? It’s time to explore and score the 2012 Summer anime season one last time!
This The previous week: the wonderful minimalistic approach to romance in Hyouka, calling into question the usefulness of the secret treasures in Sengoku Collection, wondering about the difference between split and continuously running anime with Rinne no Lagrange, and easily my favorite scene in Sword Art Online.
This week: outshining the Sengoku characters in Sengoku Collection, thoughts on the commitment to its plot in Tari Tari, an inability to grow-up in Space Brothers, and what I wish we saw more of in Hyouka.
During one of those previous weeks, I forget which one exactly: presenting effective yet limited character relationships in Sengoku Collection, questionable abandonment of the Voxes in Rinne no Lagrange, continuing the character problems in Tari Tari, and curious about Chitanda’s curiosity in Hyouka.
This week: Natsuyuki Rendezvous is losing me, a curious and disorienting visual effect in Sword Art Online, my love for those amazingly animated “explanation sequences” in Hyouka, and yet another remarkable aspect of Sengoku Collection.
These middle weeks of the Summer anime season serve as a highly appropriate period to provide evaluations, grades, and rankings on each of the anime we’re following. Here, you’ll find my reviews for each of the anime I’m following for the Summer 2012 season.
