A long, long time ago, back when you actually probably cared about these episodes: why Yeti is the best character in Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san (and why the series should be about her instead), changing the perspectives of how we view the characters in Shingeki no Kyojin, how the evolution of Hataraku Maou-sama! holds up thus far, and why the sheer awkwardness of Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge is actually a good thing.

This week: why I’m not buying the ‘death’ scene in Kakumeiki Valvrave and what leads me to believe so, some recommendations for Yamane on how to properly use a syringe in Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge, questioning the geographies, organizations and structures of cities in Shingeki no Kyojin, Suisei no Gargantia, and To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S, and some additional thoughts on the setting in anime.

This week: appreciating the evolution of Akane’s character in Psycho-Pass, thoughts on how others face anxiety and pressure in Chihayafuru 2, the perspective and surprise of tricks in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and thinking about the story going full circle in Zetsuen no Tempest.

This week: Robotics;Notes losing credibility, identifying with a character in Chihayafuru 2, the decentralization of the township in Shin Sekai Yori, the distinctive and original school uniforms in Tamako Market and why Zetsuen no Tempest is a fanservice anime.

This week: why I don’t consider Senran Kagura an ecchi anime anymore, wondering about the comedy in Zetsuen no Tempest, the diversity of karuta opponents in Chihayafuru 2 and remembering the forgotten Reiko in Shin Sekai Yori.

It seems as though the spirited and cheerful Airi, the shining, sunny personality we knew and loved, is no longer with us in Robotics;Notes. And though it seems like a cruel and heartless event to occur in the series, essentially the death of a character with her artificial intelligence being lost to digital nothingness, it does serve an ultimate purpose in the series from this point going forward. That is to say, her character has fulfilled her duties and her intended purpose and now, is no longer necessary.

Unbeknownst to most, if not all, I am a passionate and fervent sports fan. All throughout my life, sports has had a fundamental and irreplaceable role. Even today, I spend more time watching, following, and discussing sports than all my time spent on anime, manga and this blog combined. You figure it’d only be natural for me to be a fan of sports anime seeing how enthusiastic I am about sports. Well, for whatever reasons, I never found myself interested or excited about any sports anime, save for Battle Athletes Victory back in the 2000. In fact, I believe that was the last true sports anime I’ve watched (shows like Softenni do not count). Then, in Autumn of 2011, I started Chihayafuru, an anime revolving around one girl’s love of competitive karuta. It wasn’t until well into the second half before I realized I was watching a genuine sports anime. Not only that, but I was loving it, too!
