During whichever week this belongs to: complaints on the detective/mystery work in Danganronpa, how Index continues to undermine Misaka’s character in To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S, excitement over distinguishing Fu’s character in Tamayura ~more aggressive~, and a slight but refreshing and welcome change in Monogatari Series Second Season.
Last week: the various contrasts and distinctions between Index and Railgun in To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S, why Shingeki no Kyojin has stagnated and stalled recently, how the minor characters have flourished since the transitions in Suisei no Gargantia, and a rant about the powers of the moon in Hataraku Maou-sama!
This week: the theme of forgiveness and tolerance in Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Bride, questioning the utilization of steampunk technologies in Shingeki no Kyojin, those awkward color filters in Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge, and beginning to understand and appreciate Emi’s character in Hataraku Maou-sama!
This week: thinking ahead on how the weather could be used as a means of conflict in Suisei no Gargantia, weighing in on two fascinating story mechanics in Kakumeiki Valvrave, the fantastic use of voices in Chihayafuru 2, and examining the personalities of Emi in Hataraku Maou-sama! and Misaka in To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S.
Despite the most popular show of the winter season still incomplete, I’ll go ahead and write my season review for Winter 2011. It’s not like there’ll be any changes to the scores or how they rank when Puella Magi Madoka Magica finishes, so there’s no real point in waiting an undetermined amount of time to pretty much post the same thing, especially with the other nine shows already complete.
Figured with the halfway point in most shows being reached or surpassed, that I’d provide a concise review of each show I’m watching this Winter. Their order listed below is in the order that I’d rank them now along with their numerical score (between 10-5). I’ll also toss out my favorite character of each series, too, since that’s always fun. Oh, and the best Art, Characters, Entertainment, Sound, and Story. There are also some minor spoilers, so if you haven’t watched everything yet, just mind your eyes and skip those sections.
