6 Year Anniversary and the Opportunity to Write about the Autumn 2016 Anime Season
Posted by avvesione in 2016 Autumn, Anime, First Impressions, Me + Other Non-Anime Posts on December 20, 2016
Today is a time to rejoice as we celebrate six years of Avvesione’s Anime Blog. And while I typically use this post as an excuse to post screenshots of Setsuna from Needless to write about my lessons in anime or blogging from the previous year, I find myself lacking in subjects or ideas that weren’t communicated in years passed. But I suppose I should consider myself fortunate for reserving the time to pen a post; this is just my fourth post in the last seven months. Or perhaps more sobering truth of my current situation: in my first 3 years I published exactly 500 posts, whereas in the last 3 years I have only completed 139.
Really, I’d love nothing more than to continue to write about anime and to discuss anime with others, but it’s nearly impossible to find the time these days. Instead of doing the usual for my anniversary posts, I’ll do what I’ve longed to do these last few months and write about the Autumn 2016 anime season!
12 Days of Anime (2014) – Day 7 – Witch Craft Works ED
Posted by avvesione in 12 Days of Anime, Anime on December 19, 2014
I never watched an episode of Witch Craft Works when it aired in Winter 2014. However, I have a certain fascination for anime openings and endings where there are adorable chibi characters singing and dancing. For example, my favorite ED in 2012 was Kill Me Baby, with that unforgettable song and dance. The Joshiraku ED and Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita OP were also worth mentioning in 2012 for my 12 Days of Anime, too. With that in mind, it shouldn’t be surprising to learn that when Witch Craft Works first aired, I was positively curious about the ED song and sequence that managed to charm its criticizing audience and received a disproportionate amount of praise compared to the rest of the episode.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica – 8
Posted by avvesione in Anime, Puella Magi Madoka Magica on February 24, 2011
One of the things I’ve liked about Puella Magi Madoka Magica has been the whole mystery aspect. We’ve been following Madoka, an outsider to this isolated realm known only to Puella Magi, around for most of the series, and together, we’ve steadily been learning about these magical girls, their lives, and their morals. And through this process, we’ve seen great transformations in character.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica – 5

So, what is the true purpose of being a Puella Magi? Is it merely to be selfish and collect Grief Seeds for continued existence or is it to benefit society by preventing unnecessary deaths? Think of an answer and then scroll down to see what I came up with.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica – 3

Ah, magical girls. So sweet, so innocent, so delicate. Nothing bad could possibly happen to these girls… right? Right?
